Dr. Maryanne Makredes Senna, MD is a board-certified dermatologist, internationally recognized hair-loss specialist, researcher, and educator. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and practices at Beth Israel Lahey Health, where she founded and directs the Lahey Hair Loss Center of Excellence and leads its clinical research unit.

Dr. Senna previously established and led the Massachusetts General Hospital Hair Loss Clinic and clinical trials unit, which she directed for nearly a decade, contributing significantly to advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of hair disorders.

Her clinical expertise spans alopecia, complex medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, psoriasis, acne, nail disorders, and cutaneous reactions to chemotherapy, with a strong focus on innovative therapies for hair loss conditions.

A widely published author and respected thought leader, Dr. Senna has contributed to leading dermatology journals and is frequently invited to lecture internationally. She has also been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times, Good Morning America, and the HBO Max documentary Not So Pretty.

Dr. Senna holds leadership roles in several professional organizations and serves on the boards of the Scarring Alopecia Foundation, the American Hair Research Society, and advisory groups dedicated to advancing alopecia research and patient care.

She earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, completed her internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and her dermatology residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
