Dr. Daniel Fernandes Melo is a Brazilian board-certified dermatologist and trichologist with extensive clinical, academic, and research experience in dermatology, particularly hair and scalp disorders. He holds a Master’s and PhD in Medicine from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and completed postgraduate training in Dermatology at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO).
He previously served as a Professor of Dermatology at Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (UERJ) from 2017 to 2024 and has held prominent leadership positions within the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, including Head of the Hair Department of its Rio de Janeiro regional chapter and National Coordinator of its Hair Department.
Dr. Melo has undertaken advanced fellowships in hair diseases at the University of Bologna/Modena in Italy and the University of Miami in the United States. His clinical and research interests include scarring and non-scarring alopecias, trichoscopy, and advanced approaches to hair and scalp disorders.
An accomplished academic author, he has contributed approximately 100 scientific publications and 10 book chapters in trichology. In 2023, he received the Young Dermatologist Award at the World Congress of Dermatology in Singapore in recognition of his contributions to dermatology and hair research.
